Updates on the MOTOKO Airdrop and Claim Process
We’re thrilled to share that the MOTOKO airdrop has been a resounding success! A significant number of account holders have already received their $MOTOKO tokens, with many more in the process of claiming theirs. In a landmark event for the ICP community, we distributed 10,000 $MOTOKO tokens to holders of MOTOKO Ghost NFTs. It’s important to note that the total supply of $MOTOKO is capped at 10,000 tokens, ensuring its exclusivity and value.
This airdrop represents a major milestone for ICP, breathing new life into the MOTOKO Ghost NFTs, especially following the significant SNS1 airdrop. We’re proud to acknowledge that Sonic played an integral role in this historic event. As a note of reassurance and excitement, the claim site will remain active indefinitely, allowing MOTOKO NFT holders to claim their tokens at any time.
Addressing Airdrop Challenges
In the course of this airdrop, like many others, we encountered some challenges. Specifically, we identified an issue where 9 wallet addresses were mistakenly duplicated on the claim site and the airdrop list. This led to these wallets receiving double the intended amount of $MOTOKO tokens. However, we swiftly addressed this by contacting the affected wallet owners and successfully repurchasing the excess tokens to restore the balance in the minting pool. Sonic repurchased 26 $MOTOKOs (including tx fees) and added to the minting pool. We apologize for this oversight and are pleased to have rectified the situation promptly. Rest assured, the total supply of $MOTOKO remains fixed at 10,000 tokens.
